Mexico: Walmex and Soriana's Q3 results

Walmex and Soriana have released results for the third quarter of 2016. Walmex's net sales were up 10.8% against the same period in 2015, while Soriana's increased by 39.5%. Operating income grew by 13.3% for Walmex and 87.4% for Soriana.

Same store sales growth boosts performance

Both retailers said same store sales growth was an important factor in their third quarter performance.  Walmex also highlighted e-commerce which it said was growing at a rate over 20%. Both opened stores during the quarter: 27 for Walmex and two for Soriana.

Walmex rolling out Centers of Excellence

Walmex rolled out this strategy to all other formats during the period. First implemented in Sam's Club, it drives and measures improvement in areas including merchandising, operational efficiencies and overall customer experience.
