Mercator has revealed its business plan for 2017, targeting revenue of €2.4bn, less than the €2.6bn of anticipated revenue this year, with the decline attributed to an increased focus on core retail. During 2016, Mercator has divested some non-food areas of its business, including Intersport. As part of its 2017 plans, investment is set to double to €68.5m.
2017 investment doubles, focus on Slovenia & logistics
In 2017, the retailer will invest €68.5m in its business, with most money being invested in Slovenia, including store renovations and openings, as well as the launch of a new logistics centre in Ljubljana. In 2016, Mercator planned to invest €34m, most of which was planned for investment in Slovenian and Serbian stores
