Casino and Conforama have announced the establishment of an international company, which will build on their initial purchasing alliance, Mano.
New company to build on existing agreement
In September 2016, Casino and Conforama announced the formation of a centralised purchasing platform, called Mano, which would centralise purchases of leading international brands in household appliances, AV and IT equipment in France. The new agreement sees the formation of an international company, SICA (Steinhoff International Casino), which will see it buy on behalf of all banners in Conforama’s parent organisation, Steinhoff, and Casino, globally. SICA will account for purchases worth €3.2 bn, versus €1.3 bn for Mano.
SICA set to complement Mano
In the announcement, Casino and Conforama said that SICA will ‘develop a portfolio of international services through a wide range of suppliers comparable to that of Mano, in order to facilitate and optimise supplier/distributor partnerships and enhance the competitiveness of both groups’. The companies said that SICA will begin operations in time for 2017 negotiations.
