Morrisons appoints new chief customer and marketing officer

Morrisons has announced the appointment of Rachel Eyre as its new chief customer and marketing officer. She will will join Morrisons from Sainsbury's in early 2021, taking over the role from Andy Atkinson who was promoted to group commercial director earlier this year.

Eyre's role will cover customer insight and marketing including advertising, in-store and targeted marketing. She will also oversee the local solutions, customer service and PR teams. Eyre will report to CEO David Potts and sit on the Morrisons Executive committee.

Leader of Future Brands at Sainsbury's

Eyre has spent the past five years at Sainsbury's where she is currently head of brand communications and creative across all Sainsbury's brands. Prior to that she launched Future Brands, Sainsbury's offshoot to nurture innovative and small scale brands to differentiate its offer. Before joining Sainsbury's Eyre worked for Barclays across brand, marketing and communications in the wake of the global financial crisis.

Developing next generation retail talent

Commenting on the appointment David Potts said “Rachel’s appointment is important for Morrisons as we continue to listen carefully to our customers and further improve the shopping trip. Rachel has an outstanding record and I am really pleased to be welcoming her into the business. Her appointment represents another step in our plan to develop the next generation of retail talent at Morrisons.”
