Tesco Ireland confirmed the expansion of its Click and Collect service to 10 locations across different counties, amid the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

Five new locations + expanded slots at five existing locations

The brand new collection points are Bailieborough in Cavan, Ballincollig in Cork, Galway Shopping Centre, Headford Road and Ballinasloe in Galway, Clonmel and Nenagh in Tipperary and Gorey in Wexford. Tesco Ireland has also introduced additional slots at the following existing locations: Wilton in Cork, Killarney in Kerry, Coonagh in Limerick, Drogheda and Dundalk Extra stores in Louth and Castlebar in Mayo.

The Click and Collect service, which is free-of-charge, allows customers to place their orders online after choosing a pick-up slot from a designated collection point.

The move forms part of the retailer’s aim to deal with the unprecedented demand for click and collect services during the outbreak.

Geoff Byrne, Chief Operating Officer, Tesco Ireland said: “In response to additional customer demand for grocery shopping services during Covid-19, we’re pleased to have been able to make thousands more slots available for grocery home shopping.  Now we are increasing the number of Click & Collect slots for customers across the country who prefer the convenience of shopping online in advance and collecting their shopping at a location convenient for them. These additional brand-new and expanded sites, combined with our ‘think before you click’ campaign, will help us make more slots available to deliver shopping to the homes of those who need it most.”

In the UK, few retailers have recently taken steps to increase the capacity of their home delivery operation, such as Asda, or both home delivery and Click and Collect services such as Tesco, in light of the rocketing demand for both services amid the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
