Carrefour Spain: recent developments at the retailer

Carrefour Spain has extended its collaboration with Glovo, the partnership has increased the service to nine extra cities. Separately, the retailer has developed its online channel to improve functionality and efficiency.

Expanding its alliance with Glovo

Carrefour Spain has expanded its alliance with Glovo to offer shoppers home delivery from Carrefour Express stores. Originally the partnership, launched in July 2019, enabled a home delivery service in Seville and Valencia and in Carrefour’s international operations in Italy, France and Argentina.

Since December 2019, Carrefour extended its alliance to nine Spanish cities, including Alicante, Barcelona, Bilbao, Córdoba, Granada, ??Madrid, Palma, San Sebastián and Valladolid.

The retailer announced the collaboration has also been extended to cover 150 Carrefour Express supermarkets located at Cepsa fuel stations. The expansion allows shoppers to gain from 30-minute deliveries. Furthermore, shoppers benefit from 2,500 SKUs ranging from fresh, ambient, and non-food products.

Reinforcing its online channel

Carrefour has improved its online channel by developing its ordering service for non-food products. The retailer has improved its telephone sales and its online channel, which it claims reinforces its ordering service for non-food products.

The retailer has increased the management of preparing and distributing orders to deliver products to vulnerable groups during the Covid-19 pandemic. Furthermore, Carrefour has introduced Drive click and collect points to allow shoppers to their orders without leaving their vehicles. The retailer has designed several pre-packaged kits of necessary products that can be delivered within 48 and 72 hours.
