Sustainability trends 2023
As part of our annual global retail trends work, we have identified ‘Savings for the planet' as a significant driver of change in the retail industry in 2023.
Even with the challenging economic climate, retailers will persevere with their environmental, social, and governance (ESG) objectives, as they can make their operations more efficient and resilient. However, retailers will be forced to make tough decisions between achieving ESG targets and accepting the associated costs.
Our trends look at the vital role retailers and suppliers must and will play in educating colleagues and customers about becoming more sustainable. Given how these changes take time and perseverance, we consider how the trends will play out in 2023 and what companies can do to prepare for the future.
