Woolworths trials station lockers

Date : 15 February 2016

Woolworths has kicked off a 12 month trial of click & collect lockers at Sydney's Bondi Junction train station.

Same day collection on orders placed before 11am

Woolworths has teamed up with Sydney Trains to install the lockers that will allow busy commuters to pick up their groceries on the way home. The service will allow shoppers who place orders before 11:00 to pick up their shopping later that day between 16:00-20:00. The lockers are multi-temperature controlled enabling the collection of high quality ambient, fresh food and frozen products. Bondi Junction is a busy station with around 40,000 travellers per day.

Woolworths continues to push online innovation in Australia

Using lockers to provide click & collect solutions in cities is not a new concept, however this is the first time that an Australian retailer has installed such a concept on Sydney's transport system. Coles already operates locker collection sites at a number of its Coles Express forecourt locations. Whilst internationally, retailers such as Auchan in Paris and the majority of UK retailers, have trialled locker concepts at locations ranging from London Underground stations, to business parks and airports.
