WBA’s new VP of global insight drives digital transformation
The drugstore chain announced Cecilia Wu as its new vice president of global insights. Previously, Wu worked for Walmart as vice president of customer science where she focused on data-driven capabilities for end-to-end customer engagement. She also played a key role in driving Walmart’s omnichannel business.
She joins WBA with the focus to lead its global insights organisation across Walgreens, Boots and Alliance healthcare divisions. She will report to Vineet Mehra, WBA’s global chief marketing officer and Walgreens’ chief customer officer.
Wu’s addition to the team comes at a vital time as WBA most recently partnered with Microsoft and Adobe to help accelerate its digital transformation. The global drugstore chain seeks to build a differentiated omnichannel offering for its healthcare and retail division to deliver more personalised experiences. With changes in consumer behaviours due to COVID-19, the business needs its insight team now more than ever to drive a singular, unified view of its customers.

Boots UK names new CIO
The health and beauty retailer announced Richard Corbridge as its new chief information officer. Corbridge joined the business last year as innovation director and has led several initiatives such as building Boots’ digital primary care capability. He previously worked for the NHS leading and directing its IT and digital innovation.
As CIO of Boots, he seeks to drive further growth in the business’s digital transformation and according to an internal memo reported by Essential Retail, Corbridge will play a key role within the international IT leadership team, contributing to WBA’s overall IT strategy.
He also joins the business at a vital time as the drugstore chain looks to grow its digital capabilities. During lockdown, Boots grew its digital presence by launching its No7 new product range online and offered online beauty consultations along with offering more digital healthcare services to its online pharmacy and GP platform.
