Leading UK wholesale buying group Today's, with more than 160 member depots nationwide, has announced that it has successfully recruited two further member companies, helping to enhance its scale and reach. The two businesses are Leicester-based Gilson's Foods and the multi-division operator Kitwave, with operations across a number of regions.
Gilson's rejoins after two years away
Gilson's is returning to Today's membership, following a move to the Landmark buying group two years ago. Prior to that Gilson's had been with Today's for 23 years. Located on the north side of central Leicester the business operates from a 20,000 sq ft depot, primarily through cash & carry, servicing the needs of local retailers. Annual sales are around £14m.
Kitwave brings £350m turnover
Growing primarily through a series of targeted acquisitions Kitwave has expanded rapidly in the last few years, purchasing a number of regional and local wholesalers across a range of segments including impulse, ice-cream and on-trade drinks. Through this process combined turnover has now reached £350m with the business operating from over 25 sites nationally. Previously Kitwave was a member of confectionery buying group Sugro, but its widening interests will be better served by the broader category capabilities of Today's. Kitwave will join Today's as of January 2018.
