Fairway Foodservice joins Landmark Wholesale

Date : 06 December 2017

Major UK foodservice wholesale consortium, Fairway, comprising 20 regionally focused member wholesalers is to join national wholesale buying group, Landmark, effective from 1 January 2018.  Becoming Landmark's 39th member, Fairway's depot network takes the total number of Landmark affiliated locations to over 100 nationally.

Boosts Landmark's foodservice sales to £1.7bn

With total combined member sales of £651m, Fairway will boost Landmark's affiliated turnover to some £3.5bn, almost exactly half of which will sit in the foodservice channel.  This gives Landmark a foodservice scale closely in line with the leading UK cash & carry operator Booker.  In recent years Landmark's involvement in foodservice has grown significantly faster versus its traditional dominant focus on the retail channel.  Its membership now includes a significant number of the second tier foodservice operators, with Fairway joining  the likes of JJ Foodservice and the Country Range Group within the Landmark family.

Fairway itself has gained two members in 2017

As another membership-based organisation Fairway, like Landmark, has a focus on recruitment to drive growth.  2017 has seen it gain two new members, Millers and Youngs, boosting its representation in the north of England above all.  Though predominantly focused in the UK Fairway also includes members in the Republic of Ireland as well as Spain, where Europ Foods services the demand for traditional British foods amongst holidaymakers and ex-pats.

John Mills, Managing Director, Landmark Wholesale commented:

"Fairway Foodservice is a professionally run buying group with an excellent reputation.  It will complement our continued strategy for building a strong catering and foodservice proposition for independent foodservice wholesalers, and we are delighted to welcome them to the Landmark family."
