The principal UK wholesale buying group, Unitas has announced that Aoife Kenny will take up the position of Commercial Director in September this year. She will step into an enhanced role covering both trading and commercial functions to back fill the gap that will be left by the retirement of John Baines, the group’s veteran trading director.
Extensive experience in roles throughout the route to market
Joining Unitas after two years as head of foodservice with wholesaler AF Blakemore Central, the largest part of Aoife Kenny’s career has been on the supplier side of the fence with Pepsico and Kepak in particular, but also with time spent at the in-store bakery specialists Aryzta and Enterprise Foods. In many of these roles she has been focused at the intersection of convenience retailing and foodservice, which has become such an important development area for independent retailers in recent years, but which also offers in-depth understanding of out-of-home channel in general.
John Kinney, Managing Director, Unitas Wholesale commented:
‘I am absolutely delighted to welcome Aoife to Unitas at such an important time in our development as we seek to re-shape the organisation to become more member-centric and cement our place as the UK’s leading buying group. Aoife has the skills, values and experience that we were looking for, gained during a successful career across wholesale, foodservice, retail and manufacturing.’
