Dubai’s Department of Economic Development (DED) has launched a website that enables shoppers to compare a limited list of prices.
Site to provide shoppers with convenience
The DED has said that the site – www.sallety.ae – will be improved over time, with more products added as time goes on. However, the initial launch enables shoppers either on a computer or through their smartphone to check prices on a range of items at eight retailers in the market: LuLu Hypermarket, Carrefour, Spinneys, Hyper Panda, Union Co-operative, Emirates Co-operative, Choithrams and Al Maya. Beyond comparing prices, shoppers will also be able to find out about store and shopping centre promotions and offers.
Adoption likely to be boosted by smart phone penetration
Commenting on the launch, the DED’s chief executive, Omar Bushahab, said: “Since the UAE has a high broadband and smart phone penetration rate, sallety.ae will be a handy shopping option for a significant section of the resident population. The website and App helps cut down on the time people spend shopping for groceries and other essential items.”
