S Group piloting self-service Collect&Go

Date : 24 January 2013

The HOK-Elanto co-operative has begun trialling a new self-service collection model in Finland.

Next move with Foodie.fm

Building on the success S Group has had with its online offer, which uses the Foodie.fm platform, the new service allows shoppers to pick up their groceries from a self-service parcel point. S Group launched a Collect & Go in-store grocery collection in November 2012 and this service is the next move as part of its online offer.

Self-service lockers

After placing an order from Foodie.fm and choosing the self-service collection option, users receive an SMS with a collection time and a code to open the locker containing their goods. The lockers are insulated to ensure temperature control and goods are held for two hours from delivery. They only open once shopping has been paid for with a chip and pin card.

Greater flexibility

CEO of Foodie, Kalle Koutajoki, has said he thinks this is a service that could work internationally, and claims "It would be ideal for busy commuter sites where there isn't too much space to park near the collection point. Foodie.fm is already tailored to users' individual needs and now we can offer more flexibility for the order fulfilment too."
