The digitalisation of retail trade is a strategically important part of our business development and I’m very pleased that Anni will join our Group Management Board and complement it in these competence areas’.

Our view

The creation of this new role and its position on Kesko’s Group Management Board demonstrates the importance that Kesko places on online and digital. Kesko should significantly benefit from the experience and expertise that Ms Ronkainen will bring to the retailer. While Finnish grocery e-commerce may be less advanced than some other western European markets, this appointment is the latest in a series of pivotal developments. Competitor S Group is pushing ahead with its own recent developments in the online channel, including the opening of its first dark store, drive thru click & collect and its click & collect offer at Helsinki airport. Watch this space for future advancements.
