Amazon has expanded its Prime Now grocery delivery service through partnerships with Morrisons in the UK and DIA in Spain.

Available across London and major UK cities

Morrisons and Amazon announced they are expanding the Prime Now same-day delivery service for Prime members across London and more cities throughout the UK in response to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

By the end of May, the service will have been extended to more than 40 stores, compared to operating from 17 stores in March this year. The service will be available in over 90% of Greater London postcodes as well as in the ten largest cities by population including Bristol, Edinburgh, and Cardiff. Prime members are able to choose same day delivery within a two-hour window between 8am and midnight.

David Potts, Morrisons chief executive, commented: “Expanding this fast home delivery service to more cities will help us to play our full part in feeding the nation. Through our conveniently located stores and the popular Amazon Prime Now service, more and more customers will be able to access deliveries to their doorstep at this very difficult time.”

The expansion of the Prime Now service with Amazon is one of the various measures Morrisons is implementing in response to the coronavirus and to deliver its pledge ‘to play our part in feeding the nation’. In its recently published Q1 results, the retailer announced it has nearly doubled its home weekly delivery slots, as well as the quick launch of its food box service.

Barcelona expansion

Amazon is also expanding Prime Now in Spain in partnership with DIA. The service is being rolled out across Barcelona and the surrounding areas. Prime Now is now available to Prime members in Madrid, Valencia, and Barcelona.
