Kroger is launching a new pharmacy club, Rx Savings Club, developed to significantly reduce the cost of prescription drugs for its customers.

Addressing the high cost of prescription drugs

This has been developed in partnership with GoodRx, one of the leading sources for prescription and healthcare savings in the US. It uses a real-time market intelligence platform to track prices and promotions across almost all pharmacies in the country. The aim is to address the high cost of prescription drugs.

Membership-based program

The programme comes with an annual fee of $36 for individuals and $72 for families. The Rx Savings Club will provide members with exclusive access to discounts on commonly-prescribed generic medications for conditions including diabetes, asthma, mental health issues, women's health concerns, and gastrointestinal and heart health.

Aligns with ‘Wellness Your Way’ program

This initiative aligns with Kroger's Wellness Your Way programme. This aims to provide customers with personalised health, wellness and nutrition tools and services. This includes its Connect programme, which pairs a customer’s nutrition history from its loyalty card with pharmacy information to deliver tailored nutrition information and its OptUp app. This provides users with an OptUp nutritional score based on their purchases over the previous eight weeks and a way to compare the nutritional value of different products.
