As Consum and Bon Preu update on their revenue performance and Eroski expands its coverage for its click and collect service, we round up the news from Spain.
Consum expecting strong rise in revenues in 2015
Consum has said its performance thus far in 2015 is enabling it to forecast total growth of nearly 10% for the year. The retailer said that its continued expansion, which has seen it add 16 stores in the first half of the year, which added 5,100 sq. m of selling space, was set to underpin the revenue growth. Consum said the new stores were mainly added its focus area of Catalonia, with others added in Castilla-La Mancha and Valencia. In the second half of the year, Consum said that it is expecting to add 15 further stores, with the focus continuing on the same areas and Almería and Murcia too.
Bon Preu says total growth hit 10% in H1
Bon Preu grew total sales by 10.4% to €493.4 million, while like-for-like sales were up by 4.7%, during the first half of the year. The company said that the positive sales performance in the first six months of 2015 enabled it to forecast sales growth of 11% for the full year. The company said that the addition of two stores – a hypermarket in El Vendrell, a supermarket in Berga and two forecourts in Barcelona and Girona – had helped drive sales.
Eroski extends reach of click and collect service
Following on from a successful trial of the service, with sales doubling at the store where it has been available, Eroski is set to add click and collect points at five stores in the Bilbao region. Overall the retailer said that online sales had risen by 15% in the first half of 2015, with visitor numbers to its site hitting two million in June. Eroski is set to add two different fulfilment options for shoppers, with a Drive collection point being added at a hypermarket in the province of Vizcaya, while an in-store collection point will be added to its store in the Indautxu neighbourhood of Bilbao.
