As Casino looks to compete head on with Carrefour, through the introduction of the Casino #Bio banner, and it aims to encourage more shoppers online, we round up news from the retailer.
Casino adds Casino #Bio
France-based trade publication Lineaires has reported that Casino has updated a Casino Shop to a new banner, Casino #Bio. The 216 sq. m store in Issy-les-Moulineaux carries 4,000 SKUs, of which 20% are private labels. Within the private label range, 700 SKUs are Casino branded, while 100 carry the Leader Price name. Elsewhere in the range, 70 SKUs are bulk products and 100 are fruits and vegetables. There is also an organic salad bar, fresh juice machine, hot soup and a strong bakery offer.
Casino incentivising Drive shoppers
Meanwhile separately, the trade publication has also said that Casino has introduced a new promotional mechanic, under the name the Eco drive (l’éco-drive). The initiative sees a shopper, who is willing to collect an order on behalf of someone else, receive a €15 discount. The person whose shopping is being collected as well receives a discount of €8. The money off vouchers have to be used by 31 December and are only valid on orders of more than €80.
Casino is also looking to encourage existing drive users to refer other shoppers to the banner. Existing shoppers can earn up to €40 by referring up to five other people to the service, at which point they will earn €8 for each referral. Separately, to encourage shoppers to make bigger purchases, Casino is offering €120 worth of vouchers for shoppers spending more than €120.
