With Casino-owned Franprix opening a further evolution of its Darwin store design and Carrefour reported to be preparing to launch a new beauty-focused store to its roster of brands, we look at two developments from the country.
Carrefour to launch Sources…
Trade publication LSA has reported that Carrefour will open a beauty-focused store under the Sources brand name during the first week of October in Le Marais district of Paris. Although LSA says there are few details about the banner as things stand, its range will focus on products that do not contain specific ingredients and substances.
…As Casino evolves Franprix offer further
Meanwhile, despite not having updated all existing stores to the Darwin design, Franprix has launched a new version of the banner at its store on Rue Réaumur in Paris. The new design, as reported by trade publication Lineaires, has increased its hot food-to-go options, through the addition of cook-in options, and expanded its non-food ranges by incorporating corners from Hema and its own brands Cdiscount and Le Drugstore Parisien.
The existing salad bar offer, from Picadéli, has been enhanced by the addition of a new partner, Esprit Frais, owned by Fleury Michon. The new offer includes warm food options and a breakfast offer, which includes fresh fruits, yogurts and topping. To enable shoppers to eat their products easily and quickly after buying them, the store provides a small seating area.
Other innovations in the new design have seen Franprix change the way it displays its fresh fruit and vegetables, with products able to be bought in bulk merchandised nearby. The range has been adapted to add more premium products, while it has also expanded the number of services it offers.
Auchan to add Electro Dépôt corner
Meanwhile, Auchan is preparing to add its first Electro Dépôt corner in its Bagnolet hypermarket, which is in a commune in the eastern suburbs of Paris, according to reports in LSA. The 1,000 sq. m corner, which will be opened on 16 October, will see Electro Dépôt provide an adapted range to meet the needs of local shoppers.
