Aldi announced the expansion of its home delivery trial with Deliveroo.
A further 11 stores
Aldi has initially conducted the trial, back in May, in eight stores in Central England, before extending the trial to another store in Camden, London, in June.
The trial has now been expanded to an additional 11 stores, including five located in London, and others in Manchester and Cambridge.
The delivery service enables customers to choose, via the Deliveroo app, from around 200 essential Aldi grocery items online and have them delivered by Deliveroo’s network of riders to their door in as little as 30 minutes.
Making it easier for more people
Richard Thornton, communications director at Aldi UK, commented: “Even as many lockdown restrictions are lifted, we’re aware that there are still many people who are shielding and would like to shop at Aldi but can’t. In extending this trial further, we are making it even easier for thousands more people in different parts of the country to get hold of great quality food.”
Meanwhile, Ajay Lakhwani, vice president of new business at Deliveroo, added: “We are pleased that Aldi is extending its current trial with Deliveroo into 11 new stores. At Deliveroo we want to play our role in making sure households have access to everything they need and want during Covid-19. This expansion is fantastic news for our customers, who can now enjoy an even wider choice of great quality food in as little as 30 minutes."
According to Aldi, if the trial proves successful, the service could potentially be rolled out across more stores in other towns and cities across the UK before the end of the year.
