Aldi Spain reveals an overview of its expansion achievements in 2019, whilst appointing a new expansion director for 2020.

Aldi’s 2019 expansion overview

Aldi Spain completed 2019 with 308 stores, with 17 new store openings, it has increased its commercial area by 6.3%. The group has focused on regions such as; Andalusia, Basque Country, Balearic Islands, Catalonia, Madrid and Valencia.

In 2019, the retailer focused its new openings in regional capitals, which supported its objective to continue to bring its stores to more shoppers, especially the urban ones. According to research, Aldi Spain reached five million Spanish households, which rely on the supermarkets to complete their food missions.

Aldi appoints new expansion director

Aldi announced it appointed Federico Hens as Head of expansion in Spain. Hens has 26 years of experience in food distribution sector as director of expansion, both internationally and nationally.
