Metro Cash & Carry plans Moscow expansion

Metro Cash & Carry plans to open six new stores in the Moscow Region before 2020, according to Russian press reports.

At least three new stores in 2013

Speaking to the Russian press, MD Pieter Boone said that three 'classic stores' will open this year, in Serpukhov, Podolsk and Noginsk. In addition, some 20 Metro Punkt outlets are planned in five to seven years' time. These cash & carries are oriented towards small and medium businesses and are 1,500 to 2,000 sq m.  The first opened in Vologda in 2012. 

Online store coming soon?

Reports first emerged in mid-2012 that an online store would open towards the end of last year. This week, it has been reported that testing will begin this year, followed by opening before year-end.
