In separate developments, Casino-owned Franprix and Auchan, which is part of the same Mulliez Group, have partnered with sports good retailer Decathlon to stock some of the latter’s range in their stores.

Franprix, Decathlon partnership for key items

French trade publication LSA reported that Franprix and Decathlon had formed a partnership to enable the former to stock five key products in 70 Franprix stores in the Paris region from the latter’s range. The items, which include floor mats, dumbbells, rubber bands, skipping ropes and ab wheels, have been identified as being essential for practicing sport at home. The two companies say the partnership is a win-win situation for them both, enabling Decathlon to sell products at a time when its stores are shut and for Franprix it helps it build its role as being central to shoppers’ lives.

Decathlon products added to Auchan hypermarket’s range

Following the initiative from Franprix, Auchan said Decathlon products had been added to the range available at its hypermarket in Saint-Jean-de-la-Ruelle, in north-central France. First reported by Olivier Dauvers, the initiative is more extensive than that with Franprix, with 14 sports represented and 38 products for sale. The core range is similar to those available in Franprix, with bigger items, enabled by the difference in the stores’ size, like exercise bikes, junior archery kits and football goal, amongst others added.
