Chilean retailer Falabella has opened a store combining the "best of the physical world with the comfort, speed and convenience of the online world."
Customers can browse online and order in-store
Customers at the 200 sq m Falabella.com Express, in the city of Los Andes, will be able to see displays of products in categories including electronics and homewares. A seating area, equipped with computers and staff to help, allows people to browse the wider Falabella range on the retailer's website and order at internet prices. Payment can be taken in-store and the goods can be delivered to the customer's home.
Revenue up nearly 9% in Q1
Falabella has reported consolidated revenue growth of 8.7% for the first quarter of 2013, primarily resulting from the 32 new stores opened over the past year. Revenues from non-banking operations were up 8.8%, mainly due to positive same-store sales growth and increased sales area (+210,000) in retail businesses. The Tottus supermarket division reported same-store sales growth of 8.5% and 7.9% in Peru and Chile respectively. Supermarket revenues in Chile were up 16.3% and those in Peru grew by 17.9%.
