Netherlands-based Coop Supermarkten, according to reports in Distrifood, will offer its Coop Online service from 60 stores by the end of 2013.
Orders picked at store
Commenting on the step, the retailer’s commercial director, Gerard King, said: “Coop Online was set up by an active Coop entrepreneur and now we embrace the service as an organisation to offer it to more shoppers.” Orders are picked in-store, which enables Coop’s individual operators to choose whether to offer the service.
Trials to support changes in future
Although the service is only available at specific stores at the moment, Coop says that if the trials prove popular and shoppers demand other fulfilment options – such as delivery – then it would investigate these opportunities for the future.
