Amazon India launches Amazon Fresh store

Amazon India has commenced its fresh grocery delivery business in India. Operating under the Amazon Fresh banner, Indian shoppers now have access to more than 5,000 items across categories such as packaged foods, fresh fruits and vegetables, dairy products and beauty care products.

The service is being rolled out first to the city of Bengaluru and Amazon has announced plans to extend it to include Mumbai and New Delhi before the end of the year. For a fee of INR$49 (US$0.65), Amazon Prime subscribers can choose a two hour delivery slot between 6am and midnight.

With Amazon Fresh, customers can experience the convenience and speed of ordering daily essentials on Now, customers can order the freshest fruits and vegetables as well as everyday grocery and get it within 2 hours,” said Siddharth Nambiar, Director of Category Management at Amazon India.
