Amazon in Australia has recorded sales of AU$292m for the 12 months ending 31 December 2018.
Positive revenue growth
The online retailer has filed accounts for its first full financial year in Australia, with revenue increasing significantly from the AU$17m revenue reported in 2017. Of the AU$292m; retail sales accounted for AU$106m, sales from other related parties accounted for AU$150m and third-party seller services accounted for AU$23m. Despite the solid sales, the retailer still reported a net loss of AU$5.3m.
Amazon steadily making its mark
Amazon's entry into Australia has been steady and assured. The retailer started trading in the market in December 2017 and has gradually enhanced its operations, rolling out services such as Amazon Prime, Fulfilled by Amazon and Amazon Pantry. In 2018 the business significant increased its marketing spend to AU$68m and now has over 10,000 third party sellers in the market.
