Saigon Co.op, operator of a leading supermarket chain in Vietnam, launched a sustainable consumption campaign from 6th to 30th June. This event is held in partnership with SaiGonGiaiphong (Liberated Saigon) newspaper.
Promotion of green initiatives
More than 500,000 participants have shared the program on social networks to spread the word to shoppers. For the “Green Challenge” project, each post with photos of how shoppers are building a sustainable habit on Facebook will contribute the equivalent value of 10 litres of freshwater for people in the Mekong Delta.
Prioritise purchase of green products
The organisers have also identified more than 10,000 products that are environmentally friendly. Volunteers at Saigon Co.opmart supermarkets nationwide will guide consumers to prioritize purchasing green products of companies participating in the program. The supermarket will provide up to 50% discount on selected products. This year’s campaign has engaged suppliers such as Procter & Gamble Vietnam, Mondelez Kinh Do Vietnam, Unilever Vietnam, Coca-Cola Vietnam and Suntory Pepsico Vietnam.
