SPAR International appoints new head of international buying

SPAR International has announced the appointment of Wouter Lefevere as head of international buying. SPAR said that Lefevere will also be responsible for delivering on its recently launched Buying Better Together strategy.

Lefevere takes on ‘key responsibilities’

Making the appointment, SPAR International said that Lefevere ‘ will take on key buying responsibilities including supplier relationships and negotiations’. He and the team will collaborate with SPAR’s partners globally as part of its growing international ‘scale and presence’.

Commenting on the organisation’s growing scale, SPAR International’s managing director, Tobias Wasmuht, said: “We have a uniquely strong global network which, not only allows us to source better by leveraging our international scale, but also to provide extensive market access opportunities for our international suppliers.

Appointment to aid ‘Buying Better Together’ strategy

As noted, Lefevere will also be responsible for delivering on its recently launched Buying Better Together strategy. The strategy is aimed at working with SPAR’s partners globally and suppliers on ‘own brand development, warehouse & logistics, supplier partnerships and analysis & marketing’.

Discussing the step, Wasmuht said: “ Wouter and his team will work to grow joint buying volumes of SPAR partners and the penetration of SPAR International Own Brands, as well as facilitate the pooling of buying volumes of FMCG brands.
