Netherlands-based Jumbo has made a series of new appointments as it looks to enter Belgium and strengthen its business.

Jumbo has appointed Peter Isaac as Managing Director of its operations in Belgium as of September. For the past 14 years, Isaac has been COO and board member of Lidl Belgium.
A press release from Jumbo said, ‘His appointment underscores Jumbo’s ambition to be a distinctive player in the Belgian food landscape’.
… As it appoints Olaf de Boer as executive director of Buying and Merchandising
The retailer has also appointed Olaf de Boer as executive director of Buying and Merchandising. He has over twenty years’ experience in retailing, including at Ahold and Metro Cash & Carry.
CEO Frits van Eerd said, ‘With Olaf we have been able to bring someone with years of experience in the field of Buying & Merchandising into the house. His extensive knowledge in the area of private label, fresh, purchasing and assortment management comes in handy when realizing our growth ambition’.
Managing Director of La Place to leave the retailer
Meanwhile, Bart van den Nieuwenhof is to leave his position as Managing Director of La Place. Commenting on his departure, Frits van Eerd said, ‘The shared future of La Place and Jumbo looks promising. In many ways there is a nice interaction between our formulas. Bart has laid the foundation for this. We are very grateful to him for that’.
Until a new Managing Director is Appointed, the Board of Directors of Jumbo will manage La Place. This will involve Paul Bringmann, the chain’s founder, as well as Ralph Bertrand who will consider the development of La Place.
