Speaking at a conference, Système U’s President, Serge Papin, has announced that during 2012 the retailer had enjoyed sales growth of 11%, excluding petrol.
President highlights positive ‘continuity’ in growth
Papin said that during 2012 sales reached €18 billion at Système U, building on growth of 5.6% in 2011, while he was also expecting a similar pace of expansion in 2013. Commenting on the results, Papin said: “We're pretty happy.”
Focus on food forecast for 2013
For 2013, Papin said that: “The food offer should stand, our private label is selling better and better. We will focus on the food.” The concentration on the retailer’s food offer comes as he also noted that there had been a pull back in sales of non-food items.
Système U will announce further details about its annual performance on 31 January.
