The Dutch supermarket chain is to invest around $100m in developing stores in Russia, with a focus on Moscow, according to Russian press reports.
Reconstruction and store openings
With Russia being a long-term priority market, SPAR’s local partner is investing $30m in reconstructing around 15 existing stores in Moscow, the Moscow region and Vladimir, and intends to finish this project by the end of November 2013. Around $70m will be spent on opening new stores in these areas.
40 to 50 new SPAR stores planned for the next few years
The majority of these planned new stores will be supermarkets in the Moscow region, with SPAR planning on launching a flagship store in Moscow in 2014.
