Morrisons has strengthened its marketing team with the appointment of a new customer director and launched a new microsite to mark its sponsorship of ITV's "Ant and Dec's Saturday night takeaway."
Crawford Davidson appointed
Crawford Davidson joined Morrisons last week from mobile specialist Telefonica and has extensive experience in senior marketing roles, including acting managing director for marketing and international at RBS insurance, and marketing director for Norwich Union Life. Crucially he also also drove Tesco's online, finance and Clubcard promotion as director of marketing from 2001 to 2006 and has had previous retail experience at Boots and Mars.
Building a stronger marketing team
Davidson's appointment is the latest in a series of moves designed to strengthen Morrisons marketing activities and better communicate Morrisons points of difference from rivals. It follows the promotion of Nick Collard to the role of group marketing director in January, to whom Davidson will report.
£20,000 prize draw launched
The move coincides with the launch of a new microsite to support Morrisons sponsorship of ITV's primetime "Ant and Dec's Saturday night takeaway." Each week the show will include a prize draw allowing Morrisons customers to win £20,000. To enter the draw customers have to pick up a game card online and register it, a process that will also allow them to sign up for Morrisons online newsletters. The site also includes a "Takeaway store" which showcases Morrisons new M Takeaway brand and other leading promotions, an interactive game and a link to the ITV player.
