Casino's non-food website, CDiscount, has launched its grocery offer.
Time-limited promotions introduce urgency
The grocery section of the site offers a wide range of brands at low prices. There are currently over 100 promotions available on-site, and CDiscount aims to introduce a sense of urgency with the use of a 'ticker' which counts down the seconds until the promotion ends. Free delivery is offered on purchases of more than €20, and CDiscount will refund the difference if the same product is found cheaper elsewhere.
Multichannel is a strategic priority
CDiscount reported growth of 16% in Casino's recently released fourth quarter results. It claims the spot of France's leading online retailer, with more than 10 million customers, and offers prices 20% to 50% cheaper than its competitors on 90,000 non-grocery items, from clothing to insurance services. Casino aims to accelerate this lead, extending it in non-food e-commerce and ultimately replicating the success in grocery.
