A key goal for the Walmart business is to integrate its physical and digital operations. The retailer is looking to lead change in the retail sector through innovative new concepts. With the aim of becoming a leader in the omnichannel business by 2024 in Mexico. We recently visited one of these impressive new concept stores in Mexico City.
We recently visited Target’s flagship store concept in Minneapolis to see how the retailer is repositioning its stores as distribution hubs and enabling its vision of being ‘America’s easiest place to shop’.
Following its renovation in 2015, Carrefour has created an urban, food-focused hypermarket in the Euralille shopping centre. Its highlights include the connected trolley, regional ranges, the fresh marketplace, and food-to-go area.

We spent time with Norwegian market leader NorgesGruppen visiting a newly opened KIWI store in Oslo, where we appreciated how the discounter is evolving to maximise appeal, targeting new shopper groups in this upmarket location.
As Coop Sverige looks to streamline its formats as part of its 2017 strategy, IGD was invited to visit the first store that was converted to the larger store concept. We were impressed with the store’s fresh produce, family appeal, strength in organic and execution in ambient and health and beauty, as well as the use of technology.
We visited this larger Sainsbury’s store to understand how the retailer is serving a diverse shopper type.

Woolworths Double Bay highlights how the retailer is looking to flex its offer to local needs, with a premium format that delivers specialist ranges and features that differentiate it from the competition.

We take a look at Asda’s first automated 24-hour online grocery collection point in Haydock, which is expected to be the blueprint for Walmart’s future click & collect expansion.
