Lidl inaugurates a new regional distribution centre (RDC) in Cecil County, Maryland, which will serve as the cornerstone of the discounter’s regional store network and support its expansion plans in the country.
700,000 square feet facility
The new facility has required an investment of $100 million, and is due to create over 200 new positions. The RDC will serve stores across five states: Maryland, Pennsylvania, Delaware, New Jersey and New York.
Johannes Fieber, CEO of Lidl US, commented: “As we work hard to meet the surging needs of our customers during this critical time, we are thrilled to open our newest regional distribution centre in Cecil County, Maryland. The facility will allow us to efficiently deliver our award-winning products to thousands of customers from Maryland to New York and support our expansion across the region.”
Having inaugurated its first store in the US in 2017, Lidl now operates nearly 100 stores across the country.
