A new ALDI store opens in Shanghai in September. It is the retailer’s eighth store in two years.

Localised range appeals to Chinese consumers

Situated on Hongguan Road, Hongkou District, the store carries about 1,000 SKUs from Ready-to-Eat meals to body care products. The range includes quality imports such as French wine and Australian ice cream, as well as local products that appeal to local customers.

The store can deliver purchases within three kilometres if orders are placed through the WeChat mini-program. Payments can be made using ALDI China’s WeChat mini-program’s Scan & Go function.

The new store will have a WeChat group set up to inform customers about deals like ALDI’s weekly Super Savers, and offer benefits to consumers who sign up as ALDI CHINA members.

In addition to the physical stores, shoppers can buy ALDI products online from its Tmall Global Flagship Store, Tmall Classic Store, ALDI’s WeChat mini-program, as well as delivery platforms Ele.me and JD Daojia.
