Global retailing store visits



Lidl announced its ‘store of the future’ concept in November 2015. Days later, the discounter opened the first of its new-look stores in Rushden, Northamptonshire.

Brazil is a growth market for DIA, and one where the retailer remains highly positive about opportunities, including the potential of the DIA Market format. We’ve been in-store in São Paulo, to understand how the format is enhancing the retailer’s appeal in Brazil.
We visited a CarrefourSA hypermarket close to the retailer’s headquarters on the Asian side of Istanbul where we appreciated how hero categories are enhancing the shopping experience.
Grupo Zaffari is Brazil's leading family-owned retailer. As it prepares to expand in 2016, we visited the store in São Paulo to see how it has created a premium environment.  
Marketplace by Rustan’s is a gourmet supermarket format by Dairy Farm in the Philippines. It looks to provide the best shopping experience by focusing on store design and inspirational products.
We visited this flagship EUROSPAR, close to Milan, to see how it reflects SPAR’s core values in freshness, price, quality and value.
We spent time with Tesco Kipa in Istanbul, visiting two of its larger stores. Key highlights included how the retailer is demonstrating value, delivering excellence in fresh produce and patisserie, meeting the needs of local shoppers and creating theatre through branded product activation
We spent a day with Migros visiting the retailer’s stores across multiple formats in Istanbul. Here we appreciated how the Migros is excelling in fresh produce and counters, the breadth of private label products, the use of technology, a focus on loyalty and driving growth through convenience.

Leading Turkish discounter BIM is trialling a new large concept store where it offers an enhanced range in fresh produce, bakery and health & beauty; as well as fresh food counters and exclusive private label products.


Giant Ekspres is a value-orientated supermarket chain operated by Hero Group, part of Dairy Farm International. The store at Cinere Mall shows how the retailer is looking at better understanding its customers and getting the basics right in-store.
