Walmart India grows cash and carry network

Sixth store to open in the Indian state of Punjab.

Walmart India has announced the opening of another cash and carry wholesale store. It is the sixth such store in the state of Punjab and the 22nd store in India. The newly opened store is also fully integrated into its B2B ecommerce platform.

Walmart India President and CEO Krish Iyer said, “I am very excited about opening the 22nd cash and carry store in India. It reiterates our commitment to India and our growth plans. Setting up a second store in Ludhiana and sixth one in Punjab reinforces our belief in the ease of doing business here in the state."

With the aim of supporting the growth of small businesses and kiranas, the store is expected to create an additional 2,000 employment opportunities for the state. Several environmental innovations, such as renewable energy, water recycling and LED lights have been installed into the new store. For the first time in India, Walmart will be introducing the use of electric vehicles for local deliveries up to 35 km in the surrounding area.

Members only store carries a wide range of products

Best Price Modern wholesale stores typically stock more than 5,000 items. These range from fresh produce, health and beauty items, dry groceries and other general merchandise.
