This is the second year Carrefour has opened a Christmas pop-up store in Madrid. In 2015 the retailer chose the upmarket Salamanca district for its first Christmas pop-up store, while this year it chose Malasaña’s cool environment to promote the Carrefour brand. The retailer hopes to exceed the 12,400 visits that its 2015, Madrid-based pop-up store generated.

The opening adds to recent pop-up store openings in Spain, which has seen Ikea open two pop-up stores in October in Madrid and Barcelona, while Carrefour itself launched a pop-up store in the same location in November, which focused on selling fashion and electronics items.

The store boasts a sales area of over 60 sq. m.

The pop-up store spotlights the retailer’s private label products, raising the visibility of key ranges. The presence of the Home and Tex ranges enable Carrefour to highlight the breadth of its range and the strength of its hypermarket and online channel presence. Meanwhile Bio (organic) products allow it to target a small, but fast growing part of the market that is capturing greater levels of attention from shoppers and rivals alike.

The entire store is devoted to promote Carrefour’s private label ranges.
