Morrisons is the last of the major UK retailers to launch its Christmas ad.
For Iceland's Christmas 2019 campaign 'The Magic of Frozen', the retailer has partnered with Disney's Frozen, ahead of the release of Frozen 2 at the end of November.
The ad uses several characters from the Disney film, with each sharing their favourite part of Christmas.
The retailer returns back to its '#PowerOfFrozen' roots to showcasing its festive food range, whilst also capturing the magical spirit of Christmas with emphasis on family time and Christmas games.
The tie-up is well positioned to promote Iceland's new range of Frozen-themed products, now available in-store. The ad closes by promoting the upcoming release, in cinemas from 22nd November.

Asda's 2019 two-minute long Christmas ad, which first appeared on ITV on Saturday 2nd November, focuses on making Christmas 'extra special'.
The ad follows a young girl, Tilly, as she captures the magic from the Northern Lights sky using her grandad's walking stick and shares it around the town, alongside her brother Jack. The village transforms into a winter wonderland.
Asda will also air a 60-second and 30-second version of the ad over the festive period, which will showcase the retailer's festive range.
The retailer has also created a digital story book, available to download for free from Asda.com, explaining the store behind the advert. For each download, the supermarket will donate £1 to charity.

Amazon's feel-good Christmas ad sees the return of its singing delivery boxes for the third consecutive year, who sing to the song of 'Everybody Needs Somebody to Love' by Solomon Burke.
The 90 second ad sees people of all different ages, including a young girl, elderly couple, office workers and a dog sporting a Christmas jumper, celebrating amid the Christmas spirit.
The ad celebrates people coming home for Christmas, ending with an Amazon delivery driver, who had delivered many shoppers their Christmas parcels, returning home to her own family for Christmas.

Marks and Spencer
Marks and Spencer Food launched its 2019 campaign, which sees Celebrity partners Paddy McGuinness and Emma Willis visit a festive market. The ad follows the two as they sample products from M&S' Christmas range, including "The Perfect Turkey", before bumping into M&S ad co-stars, Amanda Holden and Rochelle Humes.
This years campaign offers a resemblance to last year, when retailer colleagues were seen discussing their favourites within M&S' festive range.
The ad aligns with the retailer's ongoing campaign which sees the stars sampling M&S food products and presenting their favourites.

Lidl has released its Christmas 2019 campaign, 'A Christmas you can believe in'. The upbeat ad celebrates the Christmas spirit, focusing on enjoying the event at an affordable price.
The ad follows shoppers as they seek in-store bargains over the festive period, providing the retailer with an opportunity to showcase value and products within its festive range.
Products showcased include free-range turkeys, premium cheeses and Lidl's Hortus gin range.
Commenting on the campaign, Ryan McDonnell, Commercial Director at Lidl GB explains, ‘Christmas is often a time for make believe so this year we wanted to show our customers that we’re big on a Christmas they can really believe in.'

Aldi’s Christmas advert saw the return of Kevin the Carrot for its fourth year. The full length advert followed a ten-second teaser trailer, which aired the week before its release.
The advert follows Kevin, and new character Russell Sprout and his gang of ‘Leafy Blinders’. Aldi’s festive food range is also highlighted in the advert during a circus show scene, during which Kevin sings Robbie Williams’ hit ‘Let Me Entertain You’.
Aldi UK’s Marketing Director, Sean McGinty, commented: “We’re all thrilled to see Kevin back on our screens again, getting up to his usual tricks. Kevin’s popularity grows every year and he’s becoming something of a national treasure! Kevin’s magical Big Top is the perfect environment to showcase the amazing quality of the Aldi Christmas range of food and drink this year.”

Sainsbury’s 2019 Christmas campaign is a Dickensian take on the origins of Sainsbury’s called ‘Nicholas the Sweep’. It follows a young chimney sweep who is wrongly accused of stealing a clementine from the Sainsbury’s store. The boy is helped by the owner and it is revealed he is the child who will one day become Father Christmas.
The historical advert serves to remind shoppers of the retailer’s long presence on the high street. This is reinforced by its strapline, “Helping making Christmas since 1869”, reminding shoppers of Sainsbury’s 150th anniversary.
It also nods to the retailer’s sustainability commitments, with a ‘zero emissions’ cart seen throughout the advert.

John Lewis & Partners and Waitrose & Partners
John Lewis & Partners has released its much-awaited Christmas campaign ‘Excitable Edgar’. For the first time, John Lewis & Partners and Waitrose & Partners have come together for a joint Christmas campaign, and to create the advert. The advert was released first on the retailers’ social media channels using the hashtag #WeArePartners and #ExcitableEdgar.
The two minute thirty second advert tells the story of a young girl and her friendship with an excitable dragon. Set to ‘Can’t fight this feeling’ by REO Speedwagon, re-recorded by Bastille, the story’s theme focuses on bringing people together at Christmas through food and thoughtful gifts. Customers will be able to purchase a range of Edgar themed products in both retailers’ stores during the Christmas period.

Tesco launched its 2019 Christmas campaign, which ties in with the retailer’s 100th anniversary. The advert tells the story of a Tesco delivery driver, Joel, travelling through time to deliver Christmas food throughout British history after getting caught up in some Christmas lights. The van first travels to Dickensian England, before delivering Christmas groceries to the likes of Winston Churchill and Queen Elizabeth.
In the advert, Tesco highlights it has been ‘delivering Christmas for 100 years’. The advertisement upholds a food focus, showcasing festive products including mince pies, turkey, pigs in blankets, cheese and wine. On its online store, Tesco offers the option to 'Shop the Christmas TV advert', where shoppers can purchase products featured in the ad.
To build excitement in the run up to the advert, Tesco placed a delivery van wrapped in fairy lights on the roof of a house in Knutsford.

Morrisons’ 2019 Christmas advert highlights the importance of helping those in need at Christmas, with a particular focus on the homeless. The advert showcases how ‘Morrisons gives unsold food from all its stores to help those in need every day’.
The idea for the low-budget 60 second ad, which is filmed on a hand-held camera, was pitched to the retailer by two of its own staff members, Pam Abbott and Bev Kelly. The ad follows staff member Bev Kelly, and other colleagues from the retailer’s Wakefield store, collecting donations from across the store for donation to charity. The donated food is then taken to a local homeless shelter, Wakefield Street Kitchen.
Pam Abbott and Bev Kelly, commented: “Every day Morrisons Community Champions up and down the country work to help their local neighbourhoods. We thought this film would help to show our year-round food donations. We also hoped to remind people that Christmas is a time for kindness and giving – especially to those who are struggling most”.
