Walgreens has partnered with delivery company, Postmates, to launch a new on-demand delivery solution to shoppers in NYC.
Boosting the convenience offer
Walgreens has partnered with delivery company, Postmates, to launch a new on-demand delivery solution to shoppers in New York City.
Shoppers will benefit from more convenient delivery solutions across hundreds of products within the Walgreens range, from 174 branches in Manhattan and Brooklyn.
Orders can be placed via the Postmates website or mobile app. A free delivery service is available for shoppers who are enrolled in the membership programme, Postmates Unlimited, which is priced at $9.99 per month.
The partnership will ensure Walgreens is better equipped to meet the needs of customers as quickly and easily as possible. The launch of the service is also well timed to cater for shoppers during cold and flu season.
Chief merchandising officer for Walgreens, Joe Hartsig, commented on the partnership, "We share Postmates' commitment to providing customers with convenient, differentiated shopping experiences, and together we can help ensure our customers are getting what they need, when they need it.”
Winning in the last mile
The news comes amid a surge in retailers looking to provide shoppers with more convenient solutions on deliveries, as demands and expectations continue to rise.
Walgreens recently began trials of a drone delivery service through its partnership with FedEx and Alphabet-owned start-up, Wing.
Earlier this year Amazon announced plans to launch an autonomous drone delivery service, before launching an on-demand delivery option in the UK, eligible to Prime members.
