Target store visits

Our store visit reports feature floor plans, store photos and full commentary written by our team of international retail experts. Dozens of reports are made every year of stores that feature new concepts in food and grocery retail.

Target opened its first small-format store almost 10 years ago, targeting city-dwellers and university towns. With 145 locations, it recently opened a flagship store in New York’s Times Square district.
We recently visited Target’s flagship store concept in Minneapolis to see how the retailer is repositioning its stores as distribution hubs and enabling its vision of being ‘America’s easiest place to shop’.
Following the opening of the first TargetExpress smaller format store last year, Target has recently opened its second store in San Francisco.  We recently visited this store to see how the retailer has developed a locally relevant assortment with a significantly reduced footprint.
