Malaysia: convenience chain partners with EasyParcel, Malaysia’s homegrown news and convenience chain, partners with ecommerce shipping provider EasyParcel to offer last-mile delivery service.

New service expected to increase customer volume

Bison Consolidated Bhd, which operates 320, will provide a new service to allow customers to pick up and drop off their parcels at all their outlets. This service called PGEON, is a partnership with EasyParcel. While the group has not disclosed expected earnings contribution from this collaboration, it is expected to increase footfall.

Bison to open another 70 outlets this year as competition gears up

The group has set aside RM14m (US$3.1m) to add 70 outlets in financial year 2017. The expansion will be concentrated in Malaysia where competition is heating up. 7-Eleven leads this channel with more than 2,000 local stores, with plans to set up another 200 per year. FamilyMart, ranked the second largest convenience store chain in the world, has just entered Malaysia. They launched 4 stores in 2016, targeting a total of 300 in five years. Besides store expansion, Malaysian consumers can expect a wider range of products and services as retailers compete to differentiate from each other.
