Delivery service provider honestbee launches in Indonesia

Founded in December 2014, honestbee is an online concierge and delivery service. It has recently launched in Indonesia, after Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan. In Singapore where it first started, they have added food delivery, on top of grocery and laundry.

4th country in just over two years

Honestbee began its grocery delivery services in July 2015 in Singapore. Since then, it has grown its operations to include Hong Kong, Taiwan and Indonesia. In Indonesia, it has eight partners including Transmart Carrefour, Michelle Organic Corner, Stevan Meat Shop and other boutique specialty and wine shops.

Ambitious growth plans

CEO Joel Sng wants to be the “largest online grocery store across Asia”. The company lists 8 offices on its website as areas of operations, with Malaysia, Philippines and Thailand yet to launch. In Japan, it opened a pop-up store, a pilot for a permanent roll-out in the works.

Beyond grocery delivery

To differentiate from other online grocers, honestbee added laundry services last year, and food delivery this year in Singapore. When the company enters a new market, it sets up a base in grocery delivery and slowly expands its footprint. On-demand laundry service has expanded to Taiwan. More concierge services can be expected as the company gains momentum.
